Elaine Ellman, out loose with a sociology degree and an idea that photographs could change the world, was directed to the great teacher and photographer, Lisette Model. Overblown thinking strained out by Model's dictum, "the subject tells you how it should be photographed..." trained her to respond without preconceptions. The lively dynamic of Elaine's work may be due to her allowing the subject to lead, and to then giving the image full formal expression in the intimacy of the darkroom.Elaine Ellman is also a knowledgable collector of photographs. Years with a great mentor, and the addtional good fortune to work with fabulous art directors, is evident in Elaine's meeting, and often exceeding, the goals of a wide variety of clients. With discipline and friendly teamwork in an atmosphere of mutual respect that's an enjoyable adventure for all, client's needs are fullfilled creatively on time, on budget. Some Nice Dish George Lois: Elaine's work is stupendous. I've had multi portraits done of me but her's are light years ahead. Helene Silverman: Elaine's work always surprises me. Larry Fink: Elaine Ellman creates images that are crafted like miniatures but with insight.
